What i did on the 13th of january

So its assessment week, my tutor has given us all an media assignment to complete by the end of the week, which is to design a lifestyle magazine like I.D and Dazed and confused, i wanted my magazine to be about real people, real life and to give recognition to people who have talent but are finding it difficult to get themselves noticed, include fashion from new designers and looks from lookbook or blogs, also new music, followed up by choosing a photographer we like and creating our own photoshoot image. I have to admit though, ive been getting a bit carried away as were not even going to make a magazine! Anyway today i decided to do the fashion shoot, i picked the worse day think it was so cold! So heres the results, i have to say im quite pleased and i give all credit laura jones who nearly froze to death in a birmingham subway!

This was a design idea for the college fashion stand at the clothes show last year, my group came joint first, but we couldn't get the picture right so it was a big fat fail, still i think it looks pretty cool as you can tell some are friends some arent!

whats inspiring me?

Jermaine Francis

i was lucky enough to meet jermaine at an event based at my college, to tell the truth i'd never herd of him but my fashion teacher spoke great words of him, explaining to us that he's done fashion photography for magazines like vogue, I.D and has worked with many designers in his time. Jermaine who is from the west midlands, studied at an normal college and then went on to unknown university, finally moving to london, he talked to us about how its tough out there, but you just have to stick at it! get as many contacts as you can and don't be afraid to get knocked back! very wise words i must say. He also explained each photograph and about his amazing ideas and what he wanted to create in the photo. I really love these photographs they so simple but have so many different meanings. What i also love about Jermaine he is a genuine guy and not afraid to tell the truth about the industry which helped me out alot, you wouldnt believe that most of these girls are his friends and doesnt photograph them just because they are tall, slim, these girls arent professionals, he likes to photograph girls with personality, which is what he wants to show in is photos. i advise you all to take a look at his website, for more inspiring photos! http://www.jermainefrancis.co.uk/
